Why You May Need a Tooth Extraction

If a tooth has been broken or damaged by decay, Dr. Suzanne Haeri, DDS will likely try to fix it with a filling, crown, or other treatment first. However, if there’s too much damage for the tooth to be repaired, it will need to be extracted. Once Dr. Suzanne Haeri, DDS has collected all relevant information from a pre-extraction examination, detailed plans regarding your extraction will be made.

Sometimes people who have extra teeth that block other teeth from coming in or have baby teeth that don’t fall out in time to allow permanent teeth to come in will need to have teeth extracted. People getting braces may also need teeth extracted to create room for the teeth that are being moved into place. In addition, the most common reason for getting a tooth extracted is when wisdom teeth are impacted. These teeth that often get stuck in the jaw can irritate the gum, causing pain and swelling.

If you have questions or concerns regarding tooth extractions please give us a call. What Do Dental Crowns Do?

Over time, our teeth begin to weaken and become more susceptible to problems such as decay, cracks, discoloration, and others. A dental crown is a fixed prosthetic device that can be used to entirely cover or “cap” a damaged tooth or cover an implant. A crown can also be used to attach bridges, protect a weak tooth from breaking, or restore one that’s already broken. If Dr. Suzanne Haeri, DDS recommends a crown, it is most likely to correct one of these conditions.

Crowns can be made from porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or a full gold crown. To maintain a natural look, however, a porcelain finished crown is best, as it can be matched to the shade of your other teeth. The procedure for installing a dental crown normally takes two separate dental visits. At your first appointment Dr. Suzanne Haeri, DDS will examine the tooth to make sure that it can support a crown, then begin filing it down to prepare for the crown. When the permanent crown is ready, you will have your second visit. At this appointment, the temporary crown is removed and the final crown is permanently placed.

If you think you may benefit from dental crowns, please give us a call. Dental Bridges: The Basics

If you are missing a tooth, you should strongly consider having it replaced. Dr. Suzanne Haeri, DDS offers plenty of options for patients who are missing teeth, but those who desire a non-invasive treatment option should contemplate dental bridges. Bridges are commonly used to cover a space if you’re missing one or more teeth because they literally bridge the gap that’s been created.

Dental bridges have the ability to restore your smile, restore the ability to properly chew and speak, help maintain the shape of your face and prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position. The bridge itself is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth in between. These false teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, metal, alloys, or porcelain to ensure that they are strong and durable. Getting a bridge will require at least two visits, but often more, depending on the individual case.

Cerinate One Hour Permanent Veneers

Here at the office of Dr. Suzanne Haeri DDS, we offer Cerinate One-hour Permanent Veneers to create the smiles our patients have always dreamed of, while making the procedure itself painless and fast. Cerinate veneers, much like any other veneer laminate, are designed to improve the appearance of chipped, worn, or discolored teeth. This option is also economical compared to permanent conventional veneers, so our patients can have an affordable smile in addition to a convenient one.

Not only is the procedure speedy and efficient, it’s accomplished with no removal of sensitive tooth structure. You are also guaranteed a permanently white, permanently beautiful new smile that won’t stain over time. Only one session is required for placement and is usually completed in just one treatment session. No impressions or laboratory work is necessary and as an added benefit to the patient they are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Bonding and White Fillings

Bonding can be used to correct cracks or gaps in teeth and is a popular method to enhance the aesthetics of your smile. It is also used as a filling after a cavity has been removed, or to cover up stains or discolored teeth. Ultimately, the best dental filling is no dental filling, but here at the practice of Dr. Suzanne Haeri DDS, we focus on providing you with a bright smile that blends with the natural color of your teeth.

Aesthetics are the main advantage of white fillings, since dentists can blend shades to create a color nearly identical to that of the actual tooth. This mixture of tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture bond to the tooth to support the remaining tooth structure, which helps to prevent breakage and insulate the tooth from excessive temperature changes. In addition, these tooth-colored fillings provide good durability and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid-size fillings that need to withstand moderate pressure from the constant stress of chewing.

Sedation Dentistry

Dental anxiety keeps millions of patients away from the dentist every year and here at the practice of Dr. Suzanne Haeri DDS, our staff does not want you to be afraid to receive the dental treatment that you need. We offer a variety of sedation options to our patients to ease their minds while in the chair and these days what makes sedation dentistry so ideal is that it virtually eliminates the pain associated with dental procedures.

Sedation dentistry is a process used to establish a relaxed, easy and calm state through the use of sedatives. Oral conscious sedation is the most common technique that is used and it requires no needles in case you are afraid of them. Also known as “laughing gas,” this type of sedation causes you to be drowsy while still being able to respond to the doctor. It is the only form of sedation that allows the patient to drive home once the procedure has been completed. While Dr. Suzanne Haeri DDS will decide which type of sedation is appropriate for your treatment, it is important to discuss your fears and concerns so that together you can decide on the best treatment for you.

If you suffer from dental fear, please give us a call to discuss your treatment options.
